Project : Parramatta Fishway – Earth Tech Engineering for Parramatta City Council & Department of Fisheries (2007)
Project Date : Jan - May 2007
Project Location : Sydney, Australia
Project Client : Parramatta City Council & Department of Fisheries

This involved the construction of two vertical slot ‘fish-ways’ and associated works within the Parramatta River. One at Charles St Weir adjacent to the ferry terminal and one at the Kiosk Weir within Parramatta Park which is a heritage listed site.
Construction involved dewatering and diverting of the Parramatta River at Charles St Weir.
This required excavation and preparation for construction of reinforced concrete walls and floor, followed by final installation of concrete baffles to affect the flow of water through the weir. This allows fish to pass through the weir from saltwater to freshwater during the breeding season.
Similar works were undertaken at the Parramatta Park Weir all within a freshwater environment.
